PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The winemaker Scheiblhofer built a unique wine wellness resort in Andau in Burgenland, which promises a variety of synergy effects with existing businesses and significant added value for the region.

(Andau, May 26th, 2021) As a winemaker, Scheiblhofer has long been successful and well-known far beyond national borders. On May 6, 2022, 118 rooms, an exclusive spa area with 4,000 m² and a hotel restaurant were opened with the wine wellness resort in Andau, which has so far been inconspicuous from a tourist point of view. Converted into manpower, this results in around 120 newly created jobs.

The resort aims to welcome both wine lovers and families with an attractive offer. This includes wellness, culinary delights, a children's program etc. directly at the hotel and numerous activities like visiting wineries, the Andau bathing lake and other regional destinations. With perfect infrastructure, companies are also offered a suitable setting for seminars, incentives and various other events.

Architecture, design & sustainability

With Arkan Zeytinoglu, a renowned architect was hired for the planning and the design concept. In addition to numerous international references such as the "The Guest House", "25 hours Hotel" and the "Hotel Motto" in Vienna, the "Dachsteinkönig" in Gosau and the "Tauern Spa" in Kaprun as well as other projects in Andalusia, Croatia or New York etc., the hotel specialist also convinced with sustainable architectural concepts, responsible design and resource-saving construction.

Because like the winery, the wine wellness resort should also correspond to the Scheiblhofer concept of sustainability. Sustainable construction, energy supply and working methods, the conscious garden design including an own fruit, vegetable and herb cultivation for the kitchen, a wine and nature trail on the nearby Andreasberg as well as a walk-in vineyard area directly at the hotel create closeness to nature and the environment and include the resort seamlessly into the environment.

Great added value for the region

It was already clear from the start of the planning that this would be an important project for the region. The eight-hectare site originally spanned 14 plots of land from nine different owners. One of the first big challenges was to convince everyone of the plan to realize a project of this magnitude in Andau:

“So far we have been able to convince everyone and get them on board because we want to achieve something big for the entire region. We don't see a single hotel in our wine wellness resort, but a project full of possibilities, opportunities and synergies," says Erich Scheiblhofer about the family's heart project.

For the region, in which there is currently still a lack of overnight accommodation, the project means a strong upgrade and numerous synergy effects with the existing wine and gastronomy businesses and the Andau bathing lake.

This project has been co-funded with EFRE-funds.
